Dr. Kennedy Maningu, a notable Kenyan peace advocate, received the Eurasia Center’s Uplifting Africa Program Peace Award on Thursdayy, April 1, in recognition of his tireless efforts to promote peace and stability in Africa. Dr. Gerry Janco, founder and CEO of the Eurasia Center Business Coalition LLC, praised Dr. Maningu’s exceptional dedication, noting that it has made a significant impact. The award ceremony at the Ven Hotel in Washington drew a diverse crowd of over 100 attendees, including diplomats and academics.
Dr. Kennedy Waningu, President of the International College of Peace Studies in Nairobi, attributed his inspiration for peace work to the violent 2007/8 Kenyan general election that claimed hundreds of lives. His work is centered on two main pillars: training peace education, peace-building, and conflict resolution programs for community leaders and members, including religious leaders and organizations, as well as the Global Peace Appeal initiative. This initiative includes World Peace Parades and International Peace Ribbon Tours worldwide, urging global leaders to adopt peaceful conflict resolution methods.
The Global Star of Culture Award was bestowed upon Ukraine House and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the United States, recognizing their outstanding contributions.
The audience was treated to a stunning performance by the National Chamber Orchestra, led by conductor Julien Benichou and featuring violinist Michael Roman, while also enjoying the Beauty of Japan Exhibition: Cherry Blossoms. AlloAfricaNews
